I know it is like comparing apples to oranges but which one offers more benefits? plan on using it in a 1972 OMC built lawn boy that calls for a high quality ashless oil mixed at 32:1.

7262? I have a 1973 7262 and a 1975 5024 Bricktop. I use Pennzoil Outdoor formula at 8oz into 2 gallons of gas. Then a 1oz shot of Sta-Bil 360 Marine formula to keep the fuel fresh. The both still start up on the first/second pull and are used in my weekly mowing. Nice to see another Lawn Boy fan!

We used to call that engine a Johnson Ironhorse. If it's an early model with brass bushes for crank bearings, go for the 30, if it is later model with needle rollers, use a modern 2 stroke oil.

After rereading the oil descriptions, I'd go with the XD30. The XD50 doesn't specify use for premix so it may separate. I was personally thinking about getting Pennzoil XLF for my next jug. It's made for older engines in mind.

I just regular "air-cooled two-stroke oil" at 32:1

Never ever considered using anything else....

I even have a few cans of white & green "Lawn-Boy" oil floating around somewhere

Your mower is a whole lot cleaner looking than my 7262. Mine is the first year with electronic ignition instead of points/condenser. But my favorite is my 5024 Bricktop.

It is a D-600 engine first year for CDI ignition and specifies 32:1 it has a bronze bushing in the lower pto but the rest is needle roller bearings.

Those are low ash oil designed for high rpm air cooled two cycles. Lawn boys are lower speed ( 3100-3300 rpms ) and low ash oils have a problem of leaving nasty deposits in the ring lands and crown.

For some reason, I thought ‘73 was the first year.
