Hello all

I am the owner of a Fiesta ST150, 2007 that has the IB5 gearbox. It is the time to change clutch and I though to replace the transmission oil too. The problem is, that Ford spare parts sellers sell the WSS-M2C200-D2 whereas the manual refers to WSD-M2C200-C. The latter is a 75W90 oil, while the former is a FE75 (whatever that means). Does anyone know what is the difference between the two?

I would like to believe that there is probably a reason why the D2 pops up as a recommendation, but on the other hand the C, seems like a more appropriate transmission fluid. Any infos would be more than welcome, thanks

D2 is last eco spec, very thin oil.
C is the classic spec, tick oil.
Both are mostly real syn, true GL4 and same additive.
If not good reason for D2, stay with C or compatible 75w85/90 pure GL4.

Thank you all for the info! I went for D2 (75W), as I thought that a gearbox with 230K kms (about140K miles) could use a thinner oil to be smoother - not sure if that thought makes sense. I also hesitated to go against Ford's recommendation, I noticed that they recommend D2 in almost every car of that period (2000-2010/12). Let's see how it goes

So how is your transmission doing? I'm thinking about changing original C oil to D2 just like you.

It is going okay, you feel the "gears" in the gearshift a bit more which tbh, I am not sure it is the best. I prefer the original feeling (prob with 75w-90) and since I will be changing the clutch again, I am thinking to switch back from D2 to C. Did you make the change? And if yes, how is it working out?

PS: sorry for the delay, car was left aside all this time due to work

.
Grüzi!

Zürich = Switzerland = cold winters. Be careful with too thick transmission oils
please.
I'd suggest to try a 75W-80 GL-4, somewhat the sweet spot between 75W and
75W-90. Sadly there are just very few 75W-85 GL-4 offerings (Redline MT85 and
some Castrol but hard to obtain, only in 20 l containers).

You might find these easier in Switzerland or online from several German vendors:

- Castrol Transmax Manual V 75W-80
- Ravenol MTF-2 75W-80

I ran them both with good results. Transmax Manual V on the GTI and Ravenol MTF-2
on the Cooper which has a Getrag unit like your Fiesta ST. Shifting quality is excellent.
