Wrecked today. Thinking about a 2011 Sonata

The 2011 Hyundai Sonata gets rave reviews and they have a new dual scroll turbo version that is rated @ 274 HP on regular unleaded.

Wife and I own/have owned 4 Hyundai vehicles and could not be more pleased.

I plan on buying one of the new 2012 Santa Fe versions once they are released early this coming spring.

+1. My sonata has been perfect. I have not had any complaints with the '02 and the quality has only gone up. Impressive if you ask me.

The Sonata's styling is a little over the top for me. I like its brother the KIa Optima.

The new Elantra looks great too!! It really looks like a baby Sonata and has an impressive list of features.

Sorry about your accident, glad you're ok.

I think you should get a new Sonata 2.0 Turbo. That way you can do long term testing and keep us updated. I've been intrigued by the new Turbo model, and would like to know what you think. Or, even if you don't buy the Turbo, at least test drive one and let us know what you think. Sounds like a plan.

I can do that for the BITOG community.

How 'bout a 2011 SUZUKI Kizashi ? MOTOR TREND is driving one from TOKYO to L.A.. They were getting 27 m.p.g. and then it dropped to 23 when they got into the mountains of RUSSIA (?) . Here's the link , www.youtube.com/watch?v=PXzX31LZr28 . Looks like they installed metal guards for under the car due to the rough terrain they'll encounter . So that would likely hurt the fuel economy as well .

The Kizashi appears to be a great car, but Suzuki is such a small company in the US that I would be concerned about their ability to survive in this market. If you do get a Kizashi, it better be the manual.

"Chrysler and Mitsubishi declined to take part."

I wonder why...? HA HA HA HA!!!

Both of them would have finished waaayyy back in the pack. The absolutely awful Mitsubishi Galant would have been lucky to have found 500 points in that comparison.

Thanks for the link. The two cars I consider to be at the top of the class, the Sonata and the Camry, came in #1 and #2. I have two full-sized Britax child seats in the back of my Camry, and I can tell you that back seat space is limo-like.

I find it interesting, and understandable, that the Camry scored the lowest "1st impression" score. It doesn't appear to stand out in any one category, but as you drive and live with it, it quickly grows on you, and delivers exactly what a family needs. Scoring lowest on initial impression, and near the top at the end of the test, seems about right.

Read this when it appeared in USA Today. For an alternative view, I appreciate USAT Test Drive's Healey comments in the videos. And, the test would be for the normally aspirated Sonata.

That Hyundai plant is so big they have their own invisible force shield.

At one time you could get a new CAMRY with 5 speed manual for under $17,000 . Don't know if that's possible theses days .

Sooo, I'm really liking the 2011 Hyundai Sonata. It has excellent reviews and I can afford one.

Does anyone have one or has anyone driven one or perhaps it's cousin Kia Optima?? Thanks.

I'm trying to wrap my head around the fact that you can afford a 2011 Sonata and you couldn't afford to replace dangerously worn tires on a Mazda3 (with a 1 month old child).

Papa Bear, I could afford tires. It was just a matter of me getting over to the tire shop and buying them. Life's been keeping me very busy these days. I honestly thought I could get a couple more months out of the tires. I'm pretty bad about procrastinating, too. Bad decision. I should have replaced them sooner. Lesson learned. As far as affording a 2011 Sonata, not much is going to change. My monthly payment will just be a little more. Also, I plan on using the rest of the insurance money to pay off my CC bills. This way I'll have a car note still, but no more CCs.
