Great stuff, talk about "drive it like you stole it". Love seeing the corner workers look for cover when some of those guys come in hot and loose.

As crazy as it might be to be a driver the navigators have got to be nuts. Can you imagine reading course note while trees, solid banks and drop offs go screaming by?

You can hear the turbo compressors stalling as the cars go airborne. Some hit the rev limiter. These guys are going scary fast and trying to go faster. At least they're better protected than the death wish spectators when making an off track excursion.

I haven't seen a Yaris like the one in the video at the local Toyota dealer. Would it come with a bumper sticker that would read, "Z06's do go"?

One of these days one of those cars is going to go flying into the crowd, and take out 60 or 70 of them. Then there will be news reports for 3 straight nights on, "How could we allow something like this to happen!"

It happened on a smaller scale in the 80's (before smart phones) and the then rocket ships got banned. But you make a good point. It appears that everyone knows that this could be a problem but so far nothing is being done.

Hayden Paddon killed a spectator recently, no one is sure what really happened...in the video you see him fall down the bank, but you don't see him hit by the car.

Paddon with another prang...our hopes ride on Hayden, I just wish he could reel it in a bit and still stay fast.

If that sort of racing doesn't make you giggle you have no soul. By comparison the whole "sport" of drifting should bow its head in embarrassment.

Hugely exciting to watch, very talented drivers put most of the rest of the world to shame.

Still not as good a spectacle as Grp.B though..

Matter of point of view, perhaps?

Not when it comes to engine sounds. Nothing running in WRC today compares to the I5 in the Audi Sport Quattro from the Group B era. 4 cylinders just don't impress.

I did that in our local rally championship for a few years. You just get a sense of serenity when you finally let go of the fear as you realise you have absolutely no control. That didn't stop me soiling my fireproofs when we crested a hill and got loose on the run down resulting in us parking with a tree stump poking up through my foot-rest plate.

To be honest we only gave it up as the mandatory insurance costs had reached a point where we were paying the total worth of the race car in insurance and licensing each year. I still miss it. I marshalled for a few years after that but it's not the same.
