Would you use marine lower unit io drive 80w90 royal purple hps with synerlec in a front differential of an amg e63 4matic ?

Probably not. Mercedes most likely requires some form of special sauce in there. Something as advanced as that car is will have wet clutches and who knows what else in that diff and you don't want to just go throwing some oddball fluid in there.

That car is not something to just throw different things at. It is an immensely complicated piece of German-built road tank. I'm sure there are some people that self-service them, but I'd bet that number is countable on one hand. I would stick with what MB calls for across the board and hope that nothing breaks. Unless you've just got $$ falling out of every orifice and can afford to tote it off to the local dealer.

My lower unit requires GL-4 some use GL-5. Not sure what you have. I would just buy the correct fluid for your car

RoyalPurple marine gear lube is "HPM" and not HPS. HPM is GL4/GL5 rated. RoyalPurple is full synthetic. 80w90 should not be an issue if the required visc is similar. How old is this gear oil since I thought it was discontinued almost a decade ago when they sold out?

Fix your thread title, or be a little more clear in your specifics and question. RP doesn't have much info on their products since their acquisition.

What does the owners manual or factory service manual require for the front differential of the AMG E63 4matic?

Your front diff takes GLS49 (synthetic 75w-85/75w-90), rear diff takes GLS48 (synthetic 75w-140 hypoid, for LSD). Some claim to have luck with M1 75w-90 in both diffs, with a sprinkle of LSD additive in the rear diff. I personally would stick to MB recommendations and stay away from marine gear oil. If all gear oil was the same, then I doubt that Royal Purple and other manufacturers would "waste" their time and money to make dedicated Marine gear oil. There must be some differences in the additives between marine and automotive formulations, that may not cause an issue at first, but will cause a premature diff failure in the long run.

I bought the "special sauce" castrol syntrax 75w-140 for the rear. The royal purple I bought quite a bit for my alpha one drives on my wellcraft nova 3 many years ago. They are stressed with a magnum 350 on each of them . With drive showers and aggressive fluid change schedules I've never had a problem.

I've changed the fluid in my differential, although it's only an E-350 4matic. Probably the same fluid though. There weren't too many aftermarket makers of the OEM fluid so I just got the OEM fluid. I think it was only 1 or two quarts, can't remember which. But only around $20 a quart from a dealer so I didn't sweat it too much. Like I said before, use EPC to find the specs for the car or just call up the local dealer and they can look it up.
