Coming across as a genius on the subject- please educate rather than tossThere's a lot of background and education needed before the OP's broad question can be meaningfully addressed here.
Seems many have just a speck of info and a ton of opinion, skepticism and resistance.
Pass the ketchup, please.
Anyone recall, "I make very good eye", from Bladerunner?
How about Worthington Meat (soy fiber meat substitute)?
It's food.Didn't mean it like that.
It's just that one news story about a sales ban followed by "don't you think you've eaten it already?" and "I grew up on a farm and say no" posts points to people knowing very little about it beyond gut....unlike motor oil conversations here.
I think this may be the case! (That shirt tastes TERRIBLE)I think some people on the thread might be confusing plant based imitation meat products with the so called lab grown meat.
Sure, but what is a “lab grown meat”? Labs are not producers. Like most things in the food industry, terminology is key and many things are done without any labels or consumer warnings. Consumers just naively assume it’s all safe if it’s allowed to be sold.I think some people on the thread might be confusing plant based imitation meat products with the so called lab grown meat.
Back in the 80s we shared a house and one of our renters was a Hawaiian guy, he was so Hawaiian that he had to fly to Hawaii every year because of his ancestral background. He loved spam! He would roll out that hot french bread with butter and a slice of spam.. that was some good stuff! We all used to eat really cheaply. My Hawaiian mother in law strongly objects to any disparagement of Spam, LOL.
Anyone seen spam in most stores (Walmart, etc) in Hawaii? It's in plastic theft prevention holders.Back in the 80s we shared a house and one of our renters was a Hawaiian guy, he was so Hawaiian that he had to fly to Hawaii every year because of his ancestral background. No. There is already too much synthetic crap in our food.I saw this article about how the state if Indiana has passed a two year moratorium on the sale of cultured or lab grown meat products. Several other states have similar laws.
Would you consider eating artificial meat grown from cultured cells? I think I would lean against it.

Spam in now millionaire food. Went to the grocery store the other day and paid attention to the prices. Almost got a heart attack until I remember that with the high health care costs, I can't afford a heart attack either.Back in the 80s we shared a house and one of our renters was a Hawaiian guy, he was so Hawaiian that he had to fly to Hawaii every year because of his ancestral background. Wow, things have gone to pot over there, too. At least twenty five years ago, I was visiting Oahu and went to a Walgreens pharmacy to get some pictures printed. and noticed they were having a sale on Spam. There were three pallet sized stacks of it in the center isle and there were at least a dozen different flavors, most of which I'd never heard of like maple, BBQ, bacon, jalapeno, even cheese. When visiting the wife's relatives, I was served spam on multiple occasions, too. It's a staple over there, or at least it was back then.Anyone seen spam in most stores (Walmart, etc) in Hawaii?
