You guy`s are going to think I`m nuts, But I got an offer (from a dealership) an even up trade/swap for my RX 330. It`s a 2008 Nissan Altima 2.4 S with 38,400 miles on it Black, sunroof, alloy wheels a/c. I know at first you may think I lost it, but I would be moving up three years, 20,000 miles left on factory warranty, and only 38,000 miles on the Nissan. I`m at 89,600 miles. Okay, lets have it guy`s...what do you all think?

I'd take a car I knew the maintenance history of over a car that I did not.

And with the used car market the way it is I am pretty sure you are getting hosed.

The House Always Wins.

I like the RX very much, but I just dont need it. I do a lot of short runs/errands,and the fuel millage really takes a beating for it. Especially on that winter blend funk. ( I meant junk, but I guess it is funk too)

KBB pegs your Lexus at $21,650 retail and the Nissan at $17,680. Now it is a fact that the dealer needs to be paid, but my suspicion is that you would do better "eating your peas" and moving into, say, a CPO 2007 Lexus IS 250, or a CPO Acura TSX. That Altima is no luxo-cruiser and driving it is gonna kind of s&ck for you.

I'd rather drive a Lexus too. Many of the Nissans that I know of seem to have some nickle & dime semi-serious issues that pop-up at around 70K+ miles. JMO and observations.

I'd be tempted, but its because I'm all for getting rid of larger vehicles that only get used to do errands in etc. If you don't need the RX you clearly could benefit to downsize.

Keep the Lexus, period.

You know this car, it's got lots of life left in it, and the dealer wasn't doing this out of pure generosity...they'll make a few $$ on the transaction...you end up with a slightly less valuable, albeit newer, car...not a smart move in my book.

You could just give them $4,000 out of your pocket...that would put you in about the same financial position as this proposed swap...does it sound appealing when presented that way?

Wait, wait, on second thought - I'll give you the same model/year Nissan in trade for your Lexus...and I'll keep the $4,000 difference in vehicle value for me....

The Altima is worth less now, plus in three years it will lose more value than the Lexus will in the same time frame.

Sometimes we buy things/do deals just to satisfy an itch, and we can always find some justification for doing it. This is an itch I wouldn't scratch.

Wow! thanks for all the help with this you guy`s! I really appreciate it! Some good comments going on here.
