Would appreciate advice on where to get best deal for broadband currently.

Thanks for everyone's input and confirmation of what I thought was likely: we're probably stuck with Spectrum. Oy. I've been doing a bit of comparing the different providers and as another poster said 'deceptive' and confusing is the name of the game with these services. I'm sure most people just give up and go with whatever their neighbors have.

A 'sales racket' is a very good way to put it alright.
You can try whatever providers are available in your area including Verizon and TMobile
If available to try there is nothing to lose except maybe a few dollars trying them out.

Sometimes people might hesitate because of the mindset of having to “switch providers”
You don’t have to switch or cancel your existing service just order a new service to try out for a month or two while keeping your old service.

This is very location specific. You need to research YOURSELF on what is the alternative to Spectrum in your area.
Agree, a zip code is no help as internet service options are right down to your specific address.
I would NOT bother with reviews, if you find something try them out while keeping your current service as I posted above.
Been there done that.

I thought they had to physically disconnect your old service to get the new service into your house - or do they pull new wires?

You could always try calling them up and saying their too expensive you're going to have to jump providers, bet they will cut you a deal for a year or so.

ATT is Fiber has pretty aggressive pricing in locally.

They will if and only if there's competition, and the operator knows this when you call.

I had Time Warner Cable (Road Runner) before Spectrum bought them out. Day one, they jacked up the prices. When my "plan" expired, my rate increased 50%. With TWC, we played a game each renewal cycle, where I threatened to quit, and they offered some sort of "promotion" discount. Spectrum told me to pound sand; no discounts. I dumped the TV cable, but kept the internet. And when AT&T laid fiber optic cable in my area, I switched to that for a big discount. With time, they have increased the price. Spectrum sends me discount mailings weekly these days; "we want you back", promotions. It's a freaking game, and not a fun one.

You may be able to save money by going with a lower bandwidth option. Most people have more bandwidth than they need. Hardly anyone needs Gigabit internet for their home. I only have 100mbps and I have lots more devices than you have. The problem with slow downs is usually with then router/wifi that they provide.

If you really want to keep costs down, you are going to have to bounce from service to service every couple of years.
Unless you have a local provider who’s reasonably priced. We actually happen to move into an area with fiber at $57 a month actual payment. no stipulations no built-in price increase.

Our last provider Spectrum was ridiculous and I sympathize with the OP if he is stuck
However, we do not know if Verizon or T-Mobile home Internet is available to him and he should check to see if it is. One thing for sure those cell base plans price is stable. You just have to be lucky enough to be close to a tower at the present time, in the future that will change.

Some areas also do have two landline providers however I suspect with his $90 price tag is Area is not one of them🙃

I have to agree, I’m amazed at the amount of people even in my area who think they need more service than the 300/300 I get now at $57
I do know with my extensive experience in the field that most homeowners think they need more speed because of their lousy Wi-Fi set up and router that they have in their home. There’s no doubt in my mind. Many of the big providers intentionally saddle the lower rates with cheap routers to entice them to increase speed and of course at a huge profit increase for them, at that point they give a better router, and the customer thinks it’s because of the speed increase.

I’m not talking about people in forms like this, we know the public is out to lunch on just about every subject when it comes to consumerism. There is no doubt my mind 80% of America has no idea. Absolutely none on having a proper working Wi-Fi set up where they are getting the maximum speed that they are paying for.

So they spend more money and upgrade the speed with their Internet provider, which results in better performance that they could have gotten with a proper set up at the lower payment and lower tier Internet service level.

Even worse, I bet 90% of America doesn’t test their Internet speed and have their Internet provider come back to the house to figure out what the problem is when they find out they’re not getting the speed they’re paying for.
There’s even a government website where they could file a formal complaint with the FCC and the FCC will contact the cable company and you will be overwhelmed with service from the cable company. They hate FCC complaints. It puts them at a disadvantage.
