Thanks for the info in advance.
What oil is that?I've never seen a zero noack oil but i've seen 3%.
I'm interested too. I want to say there was an older Pennzoil formulation in 10W-30 that had extremely low Noack. Maybe Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 10W-30?What oil is that?
Usually 50 grade synthetic oils have Noack about 6%.
Amsoil Small Engine oils have levels around that. I use the 10w40 in my OPE.What oil is that?

I just looked. Yes, it was Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 10W-30, but in 2104, API SN. It's interesting because the 2nd link below says SN-RC.Pennzoil formulation in 10W-30 that had extremely low Noack. Maybe Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 10W-30?
I misremembered it was 2% noack not 3%. Chevron 600r by itself could make a thick sae 30 with no vii https://cglapps.chevron.com/sdspds/PDSDetailPage.aspx?docDataId=76663&docFormat=PDFI just looked. The additive pack barely raises the noack from what I've read and at times can further lower the noack due to the carrier base and inhibitors. However the polymers raise that a bit more. I can't remember what it was but I remember seeing an oil being 2.8% and it was a finished product, that's probably what I remembered as 3%Thanks!
Well, that is a base oil. It's not a finished product for direct consumer use.

I just check how much evaporative loss at 250°C for 60 min. has avocado oil. It's just 1-2% evaporative loss. The additive pack barely raises the noack from what I've read and at times can further lower the noack due to the carrier base and inhibitors. At least in your stomachI just check how much evaporative loss at 250°C for 60 min. has avocado oil. It's just 1-2% evaporative loss.I use it for cooking (especially frying and sautéing) and on the bottle says 500°F smoke point. However that oil breaks down much quicker than motor oils.

It’s not. Everything has a vapor pressure.I dont think 0% is possible. Maybe with a PPE (poly phenol ether) used in the sr-71. For what its worth hatcol 2999 has a 2% noack and thats a 12cst POE.
I agree. I get giddy when i see like 4% but it does not factor into my decision for me really. It’s not. Everything has a vapor pressure.
I can’t get excited about Noack. It’s one of those things people get all a twitter about but I can’t get there.
