Optima was an innovative Swedish design; now it is made by JCI -- which is not intended as a knock on JCI, but just an observation where the company's focus is. Once the shining star of a smaller company's line, now Optima is made to fit into a broader line.
The "six-pack" design, while clever and distinctive, wastes some of the real estate of the footprint, which must be rectangular. If you are looking at an Optima because you want an AGM (absorbed glass mat) technology battery, the East Penn Deka AGM line (also sold as a house brand by Carquest) has more plate area per h x w x d, and thus more power for the size. In our experience, the QC on Dekas is quite good, also.
