Worst Trends in Modern Cars

-***** vehicles like the latest Prius.
-Really sloped headlines making it impossible for Torso Tall people to drive anything but Mini-vans / SUV's
mad.gif

-I hate the new displays that look like a TV screen wedged in the dashboard like an after thought instead of a nice head unit in the dash.
-Start-Stop that can't be disabled permanently without having to bypass using a module or trailer hitch connector.
-Transmissions without dip-sticks.
-Transmissions without replaceable filters.
-Transmissions with "Lifetime" fills but "Severe Duty Schedules" anyway and no easy way to service properly give points above.
-Toyota's dumb remote starter that you have to turn the vehicle off and then re-start before driving away. Can't just turn the vehicle to the on position with it still running to drive away.
-Hyundai/Kia's dumb second remote for the remote starter. Integrate it into one remote fob if the feature is on that vehicle like Chrysler does.
-GDI intake isn't totally maintenance free on all GDI vehicles despite what they tell you.

They figured it out a long time ago - it's called glass lens, but they switched to plastic in order to protect pedestrians in an accident.

1) stop/start
2) unavailability of true base models, especially on SUV's and sports cars; wind up windows, basic audio, etc.
3) decreasing availability of manual transmissions

I like my 290 HP - V6.......

Saw this last night.

Have to agree with all, but no mention of stupidly large consoles and suffocating interiors of sedans. No wonder people all wants suvs, trucks and cuvs.

Sealed beams?
lol.gif

My Cherokee had sealed beams from the factory. They were useless pieces of garbage, and flashlights would be brighter. One of the first upgrades I did was to an H4 housing.

For this forum....anything that has showed up in vehicles in the last 50 years.......safety bumpers, electronic ignition (you know you can't become "one" with your car without changing points, plugs and condenser every 12,000 miles) and of course fuel injection, let's not forget ABS brakes, air bags, collision avoidance aids, I could go on but I think I painted the picture.......

.... Forgot to mention the twisty knobs / track pads for navigating the on-screen. Especially the one in the RDX, entering an address with that knob is just painful, I got to do that when I was in Chicago in a colleagues vehicle. *Ugh* Touch-Screen all the way!

Same here; every car I owned since 1978 got either Cibie or Hella E Codes. I have a set of Hellas in my Wrangler. Sealed beams were pathetic; you were over driving them at 50 mph.
Absolutely worthless.

When it works. Try it with excessive wind noise on the highway in the RDX or when it can't hear you properly because the heater is going.

Maybe try Android Auto instead.

Yeah true... Only tried in the RDX and a Lexus RX-350 before the current generation. Not the greatest in those vehicles. My Dodge U-Connect is excellent but sometimes has issues when I'm lead footing it down the highway.
