World’s First Geared CVT Could Be a Holy Grail Transmission

Maybe Honda-Nissan will slap one of these babies in the 3cyl turbo, variable compression powered Rogue ASAP?

I'm a bit bummed, as my Corolla doesn't have that. I haven't noticed, it seems to manage just fine. Probably would only show up if the car was loaded to the gills--or if I had the larger/heavier Cross.

MIL has a CRV and when I tried to back that up our driveway, it seemed to be working hard against the TC to manage its way. Other vehicles, I'd have to be backing a loaded trailer up the driveway for them to work that hard.
Don't remember exactly - but the hatchback got it in like 2020, and the sedan much later - want to say 2023.

Might be something like that. The older 1.8L got the older CVT (some years, if it was the stripper L trim, it still had the 4AT). The newer 2.0 always had the CVT with the extra gear. I guess that is what gives the Cross the ability to tow a small trailer. Anyhow, I think it's an engine/trans marriage. The 1.8's didn't get it, the 2.0's always had. [I'd look it up, but... it's a Corolla, I'd be asleep before typing the answer.]
