World's fastest convertible - Mazda Miata?

As a former convertible owner, this test is bogus. You just drive faster and the water goes right over your head. :-)

(MythBusters tested it a while ago on a Boxster IIRC)

That's partly true.
The precise answer is maintaining a certain minimum speed and timing intersections so you never having to stop for red lights.

It's been at least a couple of years since I've bothered to put up the top on my Caterham.

If that was a manual cloth/vinyl top on the Miata instead of the PRHT, they could have had it up in less than 10s.

Yup. I used to have the soft top version and could put it up in a couple of seconds from the driver's seat. Putting it down took even less time - pretty much however long it took gravity to pull it down after I released the clip and threw it backwards. Easy to put up or down at a set of lights, and unlike the electric ones you don't even need to be stopped with the handbrake on.

"HEY BUDDY, IT'S RAINING" was a common thing people would yell at me when I drove my car in the rain, with the top down. Never got wet.

I'm surprised yours even still has a top on it to put up, given how it's used as an almost pure racing machine now.

I've been to track days when it just poured but I'll still put in my track time but with the top up.
