I wonder if it didn’t get stuck would Vladdy have made it to home and Barger on 3rd? Then that double play wouldn’t have happened and Barger would have scored the tie run…

Not that it matters but it’s crazy how something so simple can change the outcome of the game.

Yup. I had to look up the “Lodged ball rule” and yes, if the trajectory of the ball is interfered with, it is considered lodged and the umpire stops the play. If the Dodger players picked up the ball, play would have continued. The difficulty in getting the ball free is not part of the consideration. The Jays might have won if it didn’t get lodged but then again who knows.

Yeah that was quite the nothing burger. I don’t remember ever seeing that in a Series before though.

One of the newer rules in baseball is the Ohtani rule where if you are the starting pitcher and DH once you leave the game as the pitcher you can still stay in as the DH.
