It's not about casting stones, it doesn't belong in the game and has soured it for many around the world that might've been interested in the game otherwise including myself. I can't use the language I'd like to use to decribe how I feel about grown men throwing themselves in the air like they've been shot in an effort to get a baseless call. Ruins the game for me...

Get somebody to kick you in the ankle. You don't need stitches to quit.
I've played both sports.
They're totally different species when it comes to toughness.
Rugby as I tried to show you earlier, again, a different animal entirely.
How many soccer players have you heard of that played through dislocated shoulder, fractured fibula, or shattered jaw?

Harald Anton Schumacher comes to mind. Got through whole seasons with injuries he was hiding so he could continue.
Ally Maxwell - Went guarding through the second half plus extra time with three broken ribs and a ruptured spleen.
Bert Trautmann - broken neck, dislocated and ruptured vertebrae. Did multiple saves with that.
Cesc Fàbregas - scored a penalty then played to the end with a broken fibula.
Stuart Pearce - finished a half with a broken leg. They had to force him out at halftime.
John Brown - snapped his Achiles tendon mid game, played to the end, won.
Vincent Kompany - entire 90 minutes and win with a concussion, broken nose, broken eye socket.
I'm not counting broken collarbones, those are not manly injuries. Or we'd have to add Franz Beckenbauer. Played through extra time at a World Cup semifinal with a broken collarbone and his arm taped tight to his chest.
Soccer's unmanliness might trick you. They cry when there's something to win from it. I'm no surgeon, but I'd vote running with a broken leg way more pain than skating with a broken leg - all other things being equal.

.One of the most violent things ever. For some reason half my class played waterpolo in high school. These guys were next level. Not to be messed with outside of the pool neither. Only time I've seen Bud Spencer type slaps - someone getting slapped and seemingly first get horizontal in the air, then fall.

Soccer players do run a lot but you have to agree that a lot of the game is spent strategizing, pass hold, pass hold, holding, holding, pass, pass. It's not like they're going full blast for 90 minutes, there's lulls where the lungs recharge before the next attempted strike.
Hockey players get wrung out for 2 minute shifts for a reason, you can't maintain that degree of speed and intensity for much longer. Plus there's the thing that even if you're not a fighter or considered a bad#$#, there's an unwritten rule that you should be able to take care of yourself and if needed, fight for your teammates.
It's the one game where fighting is part of the game and toughness goes part and parcel with that. On the flip side, when I see flowerpots contorting themselves midair after grazing an opponent's presence to gain an unwarranted call, I take umbrage at that.
It takes the honour away from a game that these guys should be embracing.
It's a great game, I'd just like to see the fake injury drama taken out of it.
