When I first arrived in the US my very nice boss decided he needs to acclimate me to American culture, which translated into him getting me to several NBA games (and to the Tick Tock diner). He had some source for free tickets for East Rutherford, NJ.
I'm not new to basketball, but the first time I saw one live I didn't realize when the actual game started. There were so many ads going on the main screen and so many distraction on the PA system that I had to actually look at the court to realize the game had started.
RIP James Gandolfini, he was in the first row and screamed at us to make some noise, Tony Soprano style.
I wouldn't say it was boring though, I was 60ish away from this:
But all in all, it was a shock how the games started and went on as ads kept blasting on the screen and all sort of noises were drowning the actual game.
