WORLD CUP 2026 THREAD

Red card call was correct—very dangerous move with the cleats in the ankle, almost broke it.
Referees were giving red cards for moves like that since 30 years ago. FIFA has very strickt rules about such a dangerous play with stepping over or kicking somebody with the sole of the cleats—it cause very painful injuries especially at the ankles or the knees.
Lets be honest, the blatant diva-ness when these guys go down like they've been shot is ridiculous and why many of us don't care for soccer.
World stage though so I'll watch but it would be great if all the acting was eliminated from the game and they acted like men when there was any real contact.

This doesn’t apply accidental contact

Look that up as well

You talk like that because you've never been kicked or stepped over by somebody with cleats. Those are not regular shoes—there is metal and plastic in their sole. It's very painful just to touch your ankle, knee or shin—not even talking about licking or stepping over.

There are plenty of accident with broken legs caused by soccer cleats, from 30 or something years ago. Since then FIFA is very strict.

Well, there is unintentional kills as well. Were they considered 2nd or 3rd degree murder by negligence?

Intentional or not, there is certain position of your feet that you should not expose the sole of the cleats against your rival because they easily tore muscles and tendons.

They usually give strong painkillers to the injured players just to finish the game. Then it takes at least 6 months to heal injured muscle or tendon.

I played rugby buddy.
Check your purse at the door...

So shoulders, elbows, and knees equal cleats plastic / metal sole?
Have other players kicked you in the ankles, knees, and shins with their cleats while playing rugby?
Rugby is a contact sport. Have you ever watched a match? Rugby players wear cleats, YES.
It isn't a bunch of 145lb queefs running around primping their hair and hitting the deck in agony the instant they're touched by an opposing player.
Accidents and injuries happen in every sport, the acting b/s that goes on in soccer is other level...

That apparently happens. And rugby cleats are typically metal spikes.
But is not part of the came to kick other players with your cleats and especially with their sole where is the plastic.

Soccer is also a contact sport. Players push, hug and hold down their rivals but kicking your opponent with the cleats is not part of the game—neither in soccer nor rugby.

Just watch what happens in a rugby scrum.
It's brutal, guys go down and get stepped on, dirty opposing players twist their cleats on the ribs of guys. It's downright nasty. They wear scrum caps to protect their ears. Rugby at the highest level is a tough/rough game, not at all like soccer.

You're out to lunch man.
If soccer was a contact sport you wouldn't have midgets throwing themselves in the air and grabbing some random body part wincing in faked pain, then pop right up when they don't get a call and keep playing.
It's a joke...and you're oblivious...

Watch a New Zealand All Blacks game. Get back to me later on it.

Just to give you an idea, these guys don't fall over and cry if someone steps on their foot...

I was kind of surprised that their team in the World Cup was the All Whites.
