WORLD CUP 2026 THREAD

I was joking. Lighten up

Force. The stadium owners could have just said no we don’t want FIFA games. Plenty of others wanted the games.
That's funny. I get lectured if I use sarcasm and don't say I am "joking", but you get a pass...

As for the word "force", it appears you now just want to debate semantics. "Mandated" is a synonym of "force". Or you could use the word "coerced" if that suits you better.

Coerced means being compelled, forced, or pressured into doing something against your will. It typically involves the use of intimidation, threats, or aggressive manipulation rather than a person's free choice .

All point to the same thing. FIFA has a ton of gall. They are literally risking the lives of the workers on top of the stadiums to cover gigantic logos up. How bad would FIFA really been HURT if they would have just ignored the logos for a few weeks? Are they that fragile? Guests should not make large demands of hosts.

Maybe we should read the contracts with these guys if possible (I doubt it)

After watching Denmark v Ukraine friendly highlights (both teams are not in WC), I realized how to fix the new 48 team WC:

Top 32 spots remain unchanged. Take the top teams in each confederation.

However, for the next 16 spots (33-48), take the highest FIFA ranked players who didn’t qualify thru confederation playoff system.

This would eliminate all the countries that have no business being there.

While the skill level of top soccer players is off the charts I find soccer can be boring due to the lack of scoring. When a game can end with a score of 1-0 it's hard to stay excited watching it.

This is the main reason why games are low scoring, opportunities are rare due to the accuracy of the players. Goals are a result of capitalizing on an opponent's error. For example, today's only Canadian goal was the result of a deflection, but I don't think many spectators noticed; we simply got lucky (1-1 draw). You can watch the replay in slow motion for proof. If high scoring games are your thing, basketball is the one to watch; now talk about a snooze fest. Technically, you only need to watch the last two minutes of those games.

GO USA! 🇺🇸
