Hey all,

I'm wondering what a good oci would be for my Ranger. I use this truck in spring/summer/fall to go to my job which is out on road construction. I have a 20 minute drive to/from the job each day which is mostly freeway driving. Once on the job site, I probably start my truck and drive less than a mile anywhere from 5 to 20 times a day.

What would you all recommend for an oci? I am currently running pennzoil 5w30 HM with a motorcraft filter and have about 2000 miles on this oil. I plan on using valvoline nexgen maxlife 5w30 with a motorcraft filter for the next change.

I'd run havoline 5w30 at 4000 intervals . Havoline is good oil and well priced but any conventional at 4000 will do you fine as long as its not some junk no name stuff

I'd keep an eye on your air filter and intake system for dust, and maybe go fairly short on oil changes too. The havoline above is a good idea, keep it cheap ish.

Any fuel you get putzing around should evaporate on the commute.

Your choice of oil and filter is fine and an OCI of 3-4000 will be fine as well. You can buy the Nextgen cheap at Autozone or advanced auto parts at the moment.

I would use Havoline also or Valvoline dino and the Motorcraft filter and only run it 3k max.

Thanks for your opinions everyone. I switched from regular dino to high mileage oil last change and it took care of a very small oil leak that I had, so I will probably stick with high mileage oils going forward. Going to go with some NG Maxlife that I got as part of the close the loop deal and change it out at 3-3.5k.
