Well took my car n a couple days ago to get the check engine light looked at and have them put remote start in. Since they were gonna give me a loaner car i gave them a few other small thing to look at. Like the knob on the steering whhel was stiff. Small vibration in the seat over 70 and fuel guage wouldn't read full.

So the engine light was from the batt in the trunk was bad. They replaced the LR tire because it was bad. Ordered me a new knob. And repalced the fuel level sensor n the gas tank.

I told my CSA i wanted the tires balanced they way they were, hammer on weight in the inside and sticky weights on the front.

They had not got the knob for my steering whell yet so I decided just to pick it up and I'll bring it back tomorrow for the knob. While i was paying i asked about the tire Balance and they said i had a bad tire so they replaced it. Then i asked him if the balance it the way i wanted and he said yes 2 my face.

So i get the car back drive back to work ( picked the car up on my lun7 break ) and i look at which tire they replaced and i see a hammer on weight on the outside and i see the old stickey weight on the inside still. So not only did he lie to my face tht it was Balanced right but its counter balanced.

So it looks like ill only be going back to the dealer to warranty work.

Sad state of sleazy $tealership service departments so many have hack/incompetent techs, and thieving service writers.

Part of the SW job is to check the techs work to make sure any specific requests were carried out correctly, obviously the SW didn't care or was lazy.

You should still speak with the Service Manager and let him know you were dissatisfied with the service. If you get a poor response politely ask for the name of the general manager or owner and let them know too.

Hammer on weights cause damage on many alloy wheels especially if they don't use a type that is specific to alloy rims, the standard steel weights will damage an alloy.

USUALLY when you re-balance a wheel they end up having to remove an old weight, they clearly left the old weight on there I doubt they did the re-balance correctly.

...but you did go to the dealer for only warranty work?

Consider spell check next post, as that was hard to read

I'm getting your sentiment, take it back and ask them to go over there work again

The part that really [censored] me off they lied to my face. I no weights on the outside can damage the wheel that's why I wanted tape weights.

and another reason to not buy a new car.

Those "issues" would not bother me on a used vehicle. A new car should be perfect, right? That would aggravate me, waste my time, cost money (you said you paid), and then aggravate me some more. No thanks. No new car payment and no dealer "service". Used and DIY.

1 year old car with all those issues? Why do people claim new cars are reliable and worth the cost vs used?

Many automotive techs do poor work and have little pride in doing quality work. Why do you see such high turnover in car mechanics. Its a [censored] job were you rush every job and on to the next car.

I just got my Civic back from the dealer for the airbag recall. Luckily they did not damage my car.

Give it time I'm sure you'll find something that doesn't work the way it used to

The service advisor didn't work on the car, a mechanic did. I doubt the service advisor knew the weight wasn't done right.

So if you aren't going back to the dealership for anything, how are you going to pull off going in for warranty work? Am I missing something here?

I'm an automotive tech I just don't work in the dealer. What's your point.

I bet all the other wheels use stick on weights on the alloy wheels only. Most manufacturers today only use stick on to eliminate damage complaints on alloy wheels, I'm sure the SW has seen enough cars come through to know that seeing that hammer on weight was unusual. Again the SW should always ask the tech about his work if their are any questions. The SW (but also the tech) was lazy, incompetent, or both.

Let them know you're not giving a perfect score for the after-service review, and why. GM has made a large effort to improve the dealer service experience. Dealers stand to lose a decent bit of money if enough surveys come in less than stellar.

If a review isn't sent or emailed, call the dealer (or GM's customer help line) to request one.

Has NOTHING to do with the OP experience, MOST ALL $tealerships operate this way, Ford, GM, Chrysler, Honda, Toyota, Hyundai, Kia,
