In the 60s on my grandparent's farm near Titusville Pa there were working oil wells that were owned/leased by Wolf's Head Oil Co. These wells were in a big circle with an engine house in the center that pulled elevated rods that ran the pump jack on the wellhead. I can remember the sound of that big hit or miss engine running. Haven't seen Wolf's Head products for years and assumed it closed or got bought up but discovered the brand is still active, based out of Tampa apparently. Anyone know of the current Wolf's Head or use their products? Full line of products including synthetics.

Speaking of Titusville Pa, is Drake's Well the Mecca for all the oil geeks here?

The old Wolf's Head was bought out by Pennzoil who was bought out by Shell. Wolf's Head is now part of Amalie which is not the same Amalie that it used to be. Are you confused yet?

You mean the Amalie that was part of WITCO which also owned Kendall that sold the name off to SONOCO who sold it to CONOCO. Are you confused even more.

Bought a case of it a year ago at The Andersons, a general store in Ohio on sale for $1.00 a quart. Posted it on here and people said it was howlin' good oil!

They make a universal synthetic ATF that claims to work in "virtually every car ever built".

A fellow BITOGer told me that some of the best used oil analysis he ever had on his GM 3.1 were with Wolf's Head dino (when it was part of Pennzoil).

Johnny: I didn't know about the Sunoco connection.
I used to buy Sunoco (dino and semi-syn) back about 1994 or 95 in my local Shop-Rite Supermarket very cheap. Do you know who they bought their basestocks from back then? It seemed to be a pretty good oil.

Yep. Obviously if I'd hunt some up it isn't going to be gen-yoo-wine Pennsylvania crude oil is it? Always like the logo as a kid!
