Wolf's Head?

I think the spec sheet (see link on page 1 of this thread) has a bit of marketing fuzziness going on. Eg, the superduty column has chk marks by many specs, then gives specific viscosities for other specs. So it would appear that a chk mark would mean that all visc. grades meet the spec - but there's a chk mark in the A3/B3 column - and there are only a few xxw30s that meet A3 HS/HT requirements (I can only think of GC) and I think it's essentially impossible for a xxW20 to meet A3. Then there's the comment at the bottom about visc. vs. specs (ie, a loophole to all that's said in the chart, and then the chart itselt is (as I just described) fuzzy in its own right).
So this means that perhaps only their 10w40 line meets A3/B3 - which to some degree brings the product line back down to earth.

OY! For me that would mean a change in oil if I was a Wolf's Head guy. I am most definitely NOT an Amalie guy.

Heck, I used Wolf's head 40 years agoin PA with some of my first cars. Ran better then then many other oils in terms of keeping engines clean and giving long term engine life. I quit using it when I moved to the mid-west. Maybe I should reconsider it.
Isn't there a line referring to Wolf's Head oil in the original Blues Brothers movie, with Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi?

Well, it's less than 3 bucks a quart. But then I'm sure there'd be some huge shipping cost.

I think there are 12/24 in a case though. Need to get specifics, if its 6 or 12 quarts thats pricey, but my friend doesn't pay nearly that amount for it. Fired off an email to my buddy for info on it.

For the jugs yes, need to compare quart to quart(indivudual). If there were a 5QT Jug of this I'm sure it would be cheaper(less plastics/packaging). Thats why individual quarts are always way more expensive than jugs.

It's impossible to pass both A3 and A5 because they are mutually exclusive standards in reference to HT/HS. A3 is >3.5 while A5 is 2.9-3.5.
They may meet it for certain grades, but it's not an across the board thing. I'd imagine the 10W-40 and 20W-50 are A3, and the 5w30 may be A5.

Isn't that close to a 5w10 ? Thinnest 5w20 I've ever seen on paper.

The 5W-20, if it meets the 2.6 HTHS is still in the range. Someone could theoretically make a 2.6 HTHS that is 5.6 cSt at 100 C.
It comes 12 quarts to the case.
