WM oil selection

I went to WM for the first time today to look at the oil selection. I liked the prices and the selection was huge. I also loved the 5QT jugs. My only problem was they did not have any 5W 40.

Does WM carry this weight? Maybe I just need to check a different one? Has anyone seen 5W 40 at any WM's before? I'm looking for synthetic. PP, PU, Edge, Syntec, Synpower.

You'll find 5W-40 HDEO's in WM's, but you most likely will NOT find any 'Euro' oils - 5W-40 PP, Ultra, Synpower....

The only exception is Syntec 5W-40. For some reasons all the stores carry that up here, don't know about there.

the only 5w-40 oil i see is rotella at walmart, but they always have m1 0w-40

That's real disappointing. I really like the prices there. Also, the 5QT jugs would make it real nice.

Is there anyplace to get the 5QT jugs in 5W 40? I'd really like to use PP, PU, EDGE or SYNTEC.

You can get multi-quart jugs of Syntec 5W-40 at WM's if your stores are like the ones up here - lots of that stuff on the shelf.

I don't know if it's an option for you, but you can also get mult-quart jugs of Syntec 5W-50 off the shelf at WM. Bit thick, but it might meet the specs of your Jetta.

mobil 5w40 tdt is pretty common.

I actually did see only one 5QT jug of Mobil 1 5W40. But it said diesel on the front. It didn't have the VW approval on the back, so I wan't sure. Regardless, there wasn't enough of it there for me to do an oil change anyway. I was hoping for Castrol or Pennzoil.

If the warranty is up and you cant get enough Mobil TDT just get the Shell Rotella T6 Synthetic 5W-40. Its $19 a Jug at WalMart. Its pretty robust stuff but I doubt its got VW approval. Its intended for 60,000 mile drains in over the road trucks.
