$49 battery.

This one is also from Korea but came fully charged. My tester shows a CCA value that is a bit lower than advertised. The battery also has a hydrometer on the top which is very unusual for an aftermarket battery.

It’s like buying a pair $25 sneakers. Sure they might even last a couple of years, but all that time you were still wearing $25 sneakers.

except the more expensive battery may differ only in the sticker and warranty.
that sticker does not improve the battery in any way.

Exactly, my car cannot feel the label on the battery. Only the voltage and internal resistance of that battery.

So it's no contradiction to buy good clothes and the $49 battery from Wal*Mart. I got 3+ years out of the one in my 99 MGM when I sold it on to its new owner. Heck, it even started the car Jan 2019 at -5 IIRC. That was at the 25 month mark and it was still going when I sold the car in August 2020.
