Saw this at WM last night. $149 with a 4-yr free replacement warranty. If you desire or need an AGM battery, these may be the cheapest option on the market.

The battery was made in South Korea this month, 11/20. For a 24F, 750cca and RC of 140 is better than the competition. Not sure who makes this battery.

Despite having a 11/20 sticker the battery was fairly discharged at 12.2v. After a 15 hr trickle charge, it was fully charged and tested favorably.

Oddly enough I saw my size (24F too) when I didn't need a battery. Wanted to try it.

Truck struggled to crank over this weekend so I went in looking for it again but the shelf slot was empty. Ended getting the Maxx lead acid. "Rollback" for $88.

Hope they re open the auto section of my store soon.
What did they close ? I think the "repair" part closed at the stores that had them but the parts section wasn't impacted at all. You just returned the battery core to the front service desk instead of the auto service desk. If you had a WM battery that was flaky, then it was a hassle getting warranty replacement out of it though.

There have been AGM batteries at some Wally worlds in my area for over a year.

The batteries were made by East Penn.

Even at $149 they sat there... I agree with The Critic that the price is actually quite reasonable for a entry tier AGM.

I have good luck with WM $50 batteries. Hope they re open the auto section of my store soon.

Yeah I think Hall is right.... Go ahead and pull one and buy it. I believe that all the necessary stuff with the purchase can be handled by the front end people at the store.

That sticker being dated this month and that low of a static charge... Leads me to believe that the sticker was changed...

Question is what is the real date of manufacture of that battery ? AGM batteries only lose 1-3 percent of their charge per month sitting around with no charge being applied. Flooded batteries lose 5-12 percent per month sitting around uncharged.

Being the voltage was 12.2 is certainly not an expected finding for a AGM battery.

This was the initial test.
Something makes me suspect that a pallet of these batteries had been sitting unlabeled at a warehouse. When WM made an order, some labels and date stickers were installed. ;)

I agree... ^^^^^^

And I knew the 12.2 was the initial result you had.

Still not an expected finding for a AGM battery if it was fresh. I got a AGM battery from AZ and it was 12.82 right off the shelf... The intial charge on that battery was a result I was expecting and glad to see.

That battery in your case had to have been sitting around for quite some time. . Definitely a very good action you took charging that battery up.

What voltage do you think a 12v battery should show while uncharged ? Do manufacturers "pre-charge" them at the factory ?

Ahh... Yeah... The are charged...

In advance.... At the factory.

They surely would not trust the stallions at Wallymart or AAP or AZ to charge their batteries.... I will call East Penn and see what they actually do.... But I am willing to bet good money.... Those batteries are charged before they leave their facility.

AGM batteries lose static charge 1-3 percent at 75 degrees Fahrenheit... Per month. Flooded lose 5-12 percent given the same conditions.

Look .. I got a brand new AGM battery from AZ last May... Off the shelf it was 12.82.... not 12.2.... And I bet a crap ton of money it was not charged by anyone at AZ.... It was a brand new battery.
