I wanted the opinion of the forum on the Wix and Bosch oil filters.

Which one would you choose and why if one could buy either one of them?

I recently looked at a Bosch oil filter for my '00 GTI 1.8T at AutoZone. It appeared to be a well made filter, with a silicone ADBV. I wouldn't hesitate to use it on my car.

I just finished a 5k mile run on the GTI using a Wix filter (from O'Reilly Auto Parts). I have no complaints at all about the Wix. I'll use Wix again.

Bottom line: If these 2 brands were my only choices, I'd go with whichever brand was available at the store where I was shopping. Either filter will work just fine.

I like a filter with large inlet holes; and I know the Wix has them. Seems like the Bosch had the smaller holes; which could very well be alright, but I have to choose some reason for buying one over the other.

I just received my first order from Bryan at FleetFilter. I inspected every piece and everything was in good order and well packed. The Wix/NG filters really appear well made . . . clean threads, no excess glue, nice thick shells. Yep, even with shipping I saved half over the equivalent OEM filters. Nice!
