Its been about a decade since ive posted but had to share my experience with wix oil filters
i have two 12 Pack cases of leaking WIX PTL51356 at the crimp seal, date code is 01-24-22, bought them where I work at O'Reilly auto parts so i got these for $22.
I have confirmed these leak at the crimp seal by rigging my small portable tire compressor with shop towels to apply about 20-30psi and wait to see oil come out the seam and sure enough it does.
I have used the first case on various vehicles mostly on my 05 RSX type S and 07 TL type s over the course of 3 years, if youre asking why im using 51356 vs 57356, well that was the old number before the update and i just stuck with it.
I initially attributed these small leaks due to oil cooler o ring on the RSX and oil pan seal/vtec seal on my TL only to find out it was not the case even after replacing that seal on the RSX.The last filter out of the case was more severe than the others, had caused me to leave puddles where i park at work and at my driveway, my engine was about a quart low in a weeks time.
Long story short. Im done using WIX filters, the constant recalls for their filters across different part numbers ,cost cutting throughout the product line and oil leaking stories on various forums, cannot justify risking an engine because of their inconsistent products.
Threw in a new sealed oil filter with debris picture on as bonus, crazy.
