After all the talk about problems with Wix I removed another one today and after being a long rim user I have to say I’m disappointed. This was a made in Mexico version 57060 purchased sometime in the last 6-8 months, ran for about 5500 miles in a GM 5.3. Upon opening it I found the pleat spacing horrible inconsistent and one section 3 times wider than it should be. That same sections was torn loose at both ends of the media to the end caps. I’m sure it tore because of the wide spacing but also Who know how long it was like this. Tried to get some pictures.

Yes, wide pleat spacing is the main root cause of torn media, along with the factor of how easily the media tears when it gets pushed sideways from the oil flow.

Woof... I've never been a Wix fanboy, but I've also used them when it was convenient. That's rough, an OCOD would have done far better.
Some years back, someone posted a failed OCOD they claimed had burst. It had clearly been shot, probably by a 9 mm. I cannot remember if it was posted on BITOG or somewhere else. Do not take this as a defense of OCODs, I do not ever use them.

What's disappointing too is that they're removing the poly mesh reinforced media on their highest tiered filters for some models at least. If it was it wouldn't have blown out the side. WIX = the worst of M+H :poop:

I have three similarly dated 57060's. The louvers are questionable at best. None of the Mexican filters in any size or brand look good to me. They're all slapped together with a lick and a promise.

Email those pics to WIX and see what they say
Exactly what I was thinking. I've seen a lot of complaints about recent defects and general lack of quality in Wix and M&H filters. But I have yet to see where anyone has contacted Wix to lodge a complaint.

I'd love to see a reply from Wix, but we will never see one, if no one ever contacts them.

Saw this many times on Made in Mexico PROTEC ones at work. No surprise. Same shoddy quality.

I contacted wix and sent the pictures. They asked for date code from the filter but haven't heard anything back. Grabbed a filter from Oreilly and while I was there I looked over the other wix filters on the shelf. They were all made in USA and just looking in the center the louvers did look better than this one I took off so perhaps its a made in Mexico issue. Truck is now sporting a Microgard select for this cycle.

This is my 2nd issue I am attributing to the Wix in the last few months. To be fair this one wasn't causing issues but wasn't doing its job either. The other was on a 07 Honda that was having VCM issues. Someone suggested changing oil/filter and since putting on a Honda filter its been good. May or may not been the filter, but so far so good.

My dad used them his entire life. I also used many. I wouldn't use them now, but back in the day they were pretty good for a cheap filter.
