Notes: Some rust on the outside of the base gasket oring. Some rust like particles that were small seem to be the main contamination (Reddish brown color). Filter dirtier than the previous 9k filter but this was over double the interval.

Noticed this locust on the tire hanging out. 🦟

Are these still US made? The Donaldson ones I have been running are sky high now, $20+ These Wix are only about $12 on Home depot.
Yes, here's the new one I picked up from O'Reilly's. It shows Affinia and NC. The old one posted above shows the same thing. $12 you mention is not a bad price at all. Media held up well too.

What coolant do you use? I see red in the filter. Its probably overkill, but I change my coolant filter every oil change.
Good eye! Every oil change..wow! Peak Final Charge Nitrite Free OAT coolant. Says it can go 1,000,000 miles.
My own speculation is the Nitrites don't hold up to the heat of the EGR in our Power Strokes so that's why I chose Nitrite Free.

Here's a previous filter with only 9k on it that came out cleaner & I do talk a bit about the coolant choice. I saved back 1 gallon jug from every batch fill n spill out of the radiator. Took me a while but it seems to have paid off. From everything I've read this has gotten me these clean filters thus far. I'd say 4 years/30k would be the max I'd probably run on these WIX. The surface rust seems to have creeped in this go.

They are so cheap on Amazon that changing it every 5K miles which is almost a year for my truck, its not that big of an expense. Just past 100K miles on it so its still a baby. But there is a coolant leak (97% sure it is the "y hose" under the overflow bottle) so now is the time to change out coolant.

Do you cut any of yours and are you're using this WIX model? This last one I paid Oreilly's with a $5 "O'rewards" coupon $20.55 w/tax but you already know that place is high for some of this stuff. Get that Y fixed so nothing worse happens!

Another member here referenced this WIX over to a Fleetguard as well.

Never cut them open, they just go back to work to get tossed in the filter can with all the others.

I have all new hoses and a radiator since I think I saw a bit of a leak beginning from the corner. Its been too hot here for me to get motivated to do anything lately.
