What product is good for removing water spots on the windshield. The spots are in the area where the wipers do not reach.

I have used A-MAZ (need to google for places that sell) to remove water spots with great success. It can be applied by hand or machine. I have heard Duragloss NuGlass does well too but have not used it myself. You may be able to remove with standard paint polishes.

If you have hard water spots that seem to stay after standard windex and what not then just use Rain-X.

My 1990 Suzuki Swift I bought in Orlanda had some really bad water spots even in the wiper area that made it near impossible to see in the rain. After Rain-X it never had that problem again!!!

If they are surface deposits from hard water, try vinegar first, its an acid and may dissolve the deposits. After that try a glass polish or mild paint polish to see if they can be remove mechanically. If you don't have anything to do the job, talk to the guys at Pakshak in Honolulu:

They sell Einzsett and Diamondite glass polishes and might have some special tricks they can give you.

+1 on the vinegar... 50/50 mix of vinegar and distilled water also works well.

Detailing clay can be used to remove hard water spots as well. As others have stated, a 50/50 mix of vinegar has been reported to work well and is inexpensive. Just be sure to wash well afterwards, especially any areas on the paint that may have come into contact with the vinegar.

Another vote for the vinegar, though I'd use it staight out of the bottle. Will do no more harm than the "stuff" in most windshield washer solvents.
