Not if you do not have FULL COVERAGE.
I have done this myself a number of times. Mine come out better than some loser on a street corner getting $80 from my insurance company. Thank you ,but no thanks. I trust myself a whole lot more.
I pay about $5 for a kit to fix 2 chips.
