I've been having some file icon strangeness on my Windows 10 laptop recently, and have literally spend many hours searching and trying all kinds of "fixes" - ie, icon cache and thumbnail cache database clearing, etc, etc.
My previous thread about it:

I came across this tool that Microsoft put out that fixed most of my issues after running it. Thought I'd share the info in case anyone else is seeing missing icons on some of their files in 'File Explorer' - or is experiencing any of the other problems the tool is describe to fix (in link below).
From the research I've done, missing file icons has plagued Windows your years all the way back to Vista !! Why can't Microsoft keep the icons from disappearing? It can't be that complicated, can it?
