Windows 11 BSOD

I ran all the diagnostics on the HP app on my computer and it passed.

I needed to scan and send an email attaching the scanned document.

I tried several times to get to Gmail, in Thunderbird and Chrome. Always a BSOD before I could compose an email. Must have tried 3 or 4 times.

Last time I just opened up Chrome and walked away until the next day and then I could compose & send the email and also play music from YT on Chrome.

It really seems that it will do a BSOD if I try and do stuff right after the re-boot. Wait until the next day to do things and it's fine.

I am not sure why it's doing what it's doing.

Snap a pic of it and post it here.

Different things at random times does suggest hardware failure. Keep an eye on CPU temperature and make sure the fan works. If the RAM modules can be easily reached e.g. through a hatch in the bottom, take them out and re-plug them.

Do you have access to a blank USB stick?

This points strongly toward a memory problem, I'd recommend putting Memtest on a USB (following the instructions in the link) and running it:
https://www.memtest86.com/download.htm
I am still waiting for a USB memory stick. Should be here in a few days. In the meantime I got into the System menu you can get to by hitting ESC a few times during power on. I ran the Extensive Memory test for hours with no failures. And also ran all the other tests with no failures.

Yeah, I don't trust the built-in tests, I've had them pass and Memtest86 fail.

I assume you've done the other basic stuff like running chkdsk and SFC?

What's the model of laptop? (I know it's an HP).

Have you been able to get into the event viewer to see if there's a better error code? I have found it rare for hardware, specifically RAM and CPU, to fail if they were not failing in the beginning and assuming nothing was spilled on the laptop. My guess is still a failed driver or UEFI update.

It's an HP Pavilion running Windows 11. Probably 3 to 4 years old. Came with Windows 10 and upgraded.

Nothing spilled on the laptop.

The BIOS was updated a few days ago. It did not seem to help or hurt.
K, and you've run sfc /scannow and chkdsk /v (and /f if /v found issues) and confirmed that the Windows install doesn't have anything goofy with it?

If so, then we are back to what is likely a memory problem, unless there's a hosed driver, but usually that faults the same module repeatedly, while you are seeing different (albeit, related) faults.

Over the years I have had similar type errors on a PC when something on, or, the MB itself is nearing death. My last one, the processor pooped the bed completely. It's no lie to say every desktop I have owned eventually went down this road, long after I kept it way too long. Over ten years in some cases.

The errors are intermittent. In most case it was not the main RAM, but as I stated before, the core ram. You can run tests, and most likely it will pass, until, well, it fails again.

I would be looking, at least be fully backed up and ready, for a new MB processor package.
