I need to replace a window courtesy of a ping-pong paddle that "somehow" went flying. It's old so replacing the pane is straightforward but I was thinking maybe I'd use plastic instead to make this the last time I have to repair this one. I haven't compared pricing but it looks like the plexiglass is easier to work with. What I'm worried about is that it will look different than the other panes. Has anyone done a swap like this an can offer some experience or advice?

Sorry, should have specified that this is for a window in the kid's bedroom.

It will scratch and look like [censored] in a year or two. In a fire if you could not open the stuck window and tried to break the glass to get out you could not. A fireman could not get in from the outside if the window was locked. Well, not easily.

IMO fix it with glass. Then there's a lesson here for the ping pong paddle wielder. Let them pay for the next one!
