this is the camaro 1984 2.8L i have an update: it runs, works well. I put some STP in there and changed the oil filter, replaced one quart valvoline hi-mi 10W30 and it will b the FIRST AND LAST TIME I USE STP.. it was all stuck in the bottom of the blue bottle, i added 3/4 the blue bottle and tossed it. no more STP for me
ok. through the fill hole, it looks nastily sludged. it runs very very well. I got it going, it sometimes somokes on startup when it is cold, and i have to give it gas for about 30 seconds and it will run fine, its carbd. I too mostly take it on short trips, but i let it idle about 20 minutes so the oil does reach full operating temperature. in about a week of using the car, id say it runs well, i topped up all the fluids so i no longer do easssyyy burnouts on accident, i do miss that a little bit, strong trans
as to oil....... i think hi-mi 10W30 is all i ened. maybe ill mix hi-mi 5W30 with 10W30 since why not, and its high miles. for the summe,r i was briefly considering german castrol but my engine appears to be sludged, oh i also added a pint of mmo (MMO) maybe that is helping things
im afraid to put GC in there
the car runs pretty good, it sometimes smokes on cold mornings but i saw its first smoke-free (of any kind) startup today, it loves the weather here
no overheat, no temp gauge, no oil pressure gauge, they are idiot lights and i mostly short trp the car but i let it idle, i thought about a 10W-40 High Mileage oil for summer (maybe one quart to the 5w30 and 10w30 High Mileage mix, with mo in it too)
will GC hurt my engine, or stick with the 10w30 High Mileage valvoline due to the unknown history of my engine, the fact its workin well, and that i do have MMO in there ? Should i go 10W40 or GC or keep it 10W30 when the real hot summer gets here and its around 100 degrees on the regular ?
