This is my first post. Ive always been a huge pennzoil fan but now that my car is getting up in mileage ( a few minor leaks) and im wanting to switch to synthetic blend high mileage. My issue is that pennzoil does not make a synblend but im a pretty huge loyalist. I also know about QS Defy but im not putting it in my 350z which btw has 166000 on the odo. Any thoughts or will I need to switch brands?

I'm sure their regular High Mileage oil has some syn content, its just not advertised. Even most conventional including Pennzoil contain some syn to pass current specs.

Why are you against Defy?

Why not? Pennzoil and QS are owned by the same company and are very similar.

The only reason it is rated SL is due to the high zinc content that you can't have in SM or SN rated oil, thats what makes this oil great for HM vehicles. The 10w40 is rated SN since the zinc restriction doesn't apply to 40 weights.

If you work at firestone, Id just use some kendall hm! Kendall is an excellent oil.

I cant take any of the Hm home and we stay to busy to change it there myself. I do like Kendall tho. I feel like they pioneer oil.

I know some firestones let people bring in their own empty 5qt jugs and let them fill it.

what year is your car in question?

I ran 10w-40 once and the car smoked like crazy on WOT. Now that im back to 5w30 it does not smoke so Im not sure 40 is a good idea.

Most High Mileage oils are on the thick end of their grade. Defy and GTX High Mileage 30s are almost 40s

Just get the Pennzoil High Mileage and be done with it. Its gonna have some syn in it and might have some GTL.....you never know. Pennzoil is making some righteous oils these days

Gas to Liquid base oils. Its the next generation group III synthetic oils. Sometimes referred to group III+
