My engine calls for a 5w30, but I have been running Rotella T5 (10W-30) in my 2002 Toyota Tacoma 3RZ with good results. However for the winter I wanted to switch back to a 5 weight for cold starts, so this last oil change I switched to T6 (5W-40). The engine seems to like it, but I was curious if I will see a decrease in mileage. I will update this thread when I have the results from several fill ups, but in the meantime what is the consensus?
Will I see a MPG decrease with Rotella T6?

The MPG drop would not be big enough to worry about, IMO.
It would be negligible at best. Cold starts, longer warm-up times & winter gasoline will do you more economic harm than a cheap, easy to get, excellent performing & robust HDEO.
if you're somewhat adventuresome, Olympic Oil (under the White/Yardman OEM Brand) Make a 5w30 "semi-HD" equipment oil that worked well for me last winter. It's a thick 30 with good cold flow. Usually available at Lowes in the snowblower section. It's API SJ due to the high zddp %, but the oil was near colourless and had almost no petroleum odor. I would easily call it a synthetic though the label did not state it as such. One of a short handfull of "BEST" oils Ive run in the past decade. I have run the RT10w30 found it a great oil but unnecessarily thick in the Toyota. Yes, the 1030.
Another option, and one I've run successfully on the Subaru (ole knocky) was a mix of Formula Shell 5w30 with the RT5w30. That was a great blend that provided better fuel mileage than either oil alone. You'd prob end up with a MID HTHS and a SL level of ZDDP.
