Will gasoline damage an oil filter?

I need to install a high capacity gasoline fuel filter on my old tractor. I have a filter mount and filter on my truck. It's a 1-12 thread and uses a 33123 filter.

I would like to use this same setup but that particular mount is very pricy.

I can buy a mount with a 3/4x 16 thread. Plenty of oil filter numbers available to fit that.

But will gasoline or the new E15 damage an oil filter?

My other option is a mount that's 1x14 thread and takes a huge caterpillar fuel filter, I'm trying to not have to keep another filter# in stock plus that filter is much longer than what I need.

Can you get an adapter something like this

I'd run the Caterpillar if there's enough room. You could theoretically run it for a longer interval and offset the cost of a replacement filter. Not familiar if an oil filter is suitable in this situation.

It is not appropriate to filter low viscosity gas correctly.
also if nitrile rubber it may not be fully compatible with ethanol.
not sure if the glue etc in the filter is tested for that either.

In other words.. buy a fuel filter.

Back in the 80s we had a neighbour who was a bit on the frugal side LOL !
He would pour gas in the used oil filter rinse it out put some compressed air through it and slap it back on as far as I know it never hurt anything but probably didn't help anything either
