They threw in a free oil change when I bought it. Am I right to assume they will be using Motorcraft Synthetic-blend 5w-20 and a Motorcraft filter? This is my first Ford so I honestly am not sure.

I know it will be 5w20 for basically every ford vehicle but Im sure it will be conventional unless you ask for it and pay the difference.

My Honda dealership uses Kendall "Blend" I think a lot of dealerships use what they can find a good deal on. I'm not sure about your ford, just ask em, I'm sure it varies from dealer to dealer, and of course what you want to pay.

I was under the impression that all 5w-20s were at least semi-synthetic "blends".

I have NEVER heard of it being a conventional oil since it came out...Just a blend.

I talked to someone in service this morning and if I can believe what he said, they use Motorcraft filters and 5w-20 Motorcraft syn-blend. After this OCI, I think I will use either Pennzoil Platinum 5w-20 or Mobil 1 EP 5w-20 if I can find it and a Bosch Distance Plus filter. Thanks for the comments and more are welcome if you have any.

I appreciate yor thoughts, Johnny. I know I can find 5w-20 Platinum at area Wal Marts but I don't recall ever seeing EP 5w-20 on the shelves. I would probably use Ultra also if they made it in 5w-20.

Ah yes, you are correct! They do make Ultra in 5w-20. It's Ultra 0w-30 that isn't available in the the U.S.

I've run both the PP and the EP in my V6 Accord. Both oils ran smoothly, but the EP seemed to be more durable in my application.

I'd buy that if it was available in the USofA.
