So I changed the oil in the taurus. Before with the Quaker State Ultimate Durability when I would check the oil, the oil would always be right where the oil level was at, right on the full mark. I'd pull it out, wipe it, and pull it out again and it was always the same spot. Now with this quickie lube universal eco ultra syn blend, when I first check the oil its half way up the dipstick the first time, put it back and pull it back out then its right at the full mark. Does anyone know why its half way up the dipstick the first time I pull it out? This is after it was parked over a day on level ground. Is this common? I about blew a gasket because I thought they overfilled it alot.

Just coincidence, your probably checking like crazy with the new oil
When you pull the stick out too many times you drag oil up the oil tube, coating it. So when you check, one side looks crazy high, the other side looks fine. Its just the oil in the tube coating the dipstick. Leave it alone for a minute or 2 will show correctly.
I check the engine cold without starting it like your suppose to. How can the oil be built up in the tube after a 30 minute drive and then parking it and checking it a day later? My guess is that cheap prime guard filter not doing its job with the adbv.

Ill wipe it off and re dip it and then it'll be right on the full mark. When I had Quaker State Ultimate Durability in the engine, it would always read on full every time. None of this 6" up the dipstick stuff. Bad adbv could not be holding the oil in the filter.

I get the same thing in Winter in a Land Rover and Tacoma both with Redline 10w40.
Land ROver has filter underneath on an angled facing up. Purolator Classic.
Taco has it mounted exactly opposite. On top angled down.
PureOne on there.
Both are fine when I check oil while it's hot/warm.

At the top of the dip stick there is an o-ring that seals the dip stick and dip stick tube. Oil that's pushed up the tube can't drain when the o-ring makes a good seal, until the dip stick is pulled.
