I've been to several of the newly opened hhgregg stores near me, and can honestly say that there's no reason why I would shop here over Best Buy. The prices and selection weren't good. There have been hhgregg stores opening everywhere. They must be doing well.

Does anyone have any experience with hhgregg?

Yes, I do. They are generally cheaper then Best Buy. For example, when I had to replace the surround sound system in my family room, the same Sony system that I purchased at HH Gregg was $150 more at Best Buy. Also, HH Gregg will price match, none of the Best Buy's in my area will.

I went there once and was not impressed. I can't even remember what I was looking for...it was either computer or car audio related. I do remember walking in and a herd of salespeople were waiting to confront me. They were no help, and didn't have much there, so I promptly left for Best Buy.

Thats what I dislike about ABC Warehouse. Walkin and all the sales people rush up, I told them when I wanted help, I'd ask, one replied they work on commission, I left.

Also found out one of the salesman is handicaped and uses up the handicappedspace every day.

They really like to look out for the customer, myxxx.

No,

If it was about oil it wouldn't be in Off-Topic

I got a couple tvs there a year and a half ago. I had never been there and stopped in before going to Best Buy to look at a specific tv I had in mind. They didn't have that specific tv, so they offered me a better one at "cost" (they even showed me their computer screen that showed their cost). It was a very good deal, and we bought one for us and one for my parents. When we got it home realized we wanted a bigger one, so we brought one back. Not much hassle. We had another one in mind, and they didn't have it. So they gave us two options, a very good tv at "cost" with internet capability ($300 cheaper at the time than it was anywhere else including the internet), or a tv similar to what we wanted (no internet compatability) plus a Blu-Ray player with internet capability for the cost of the one we were otherwise interested in at Best Buy.

I don't think I'd shop there again. Too much work to get a good price. For tvs their selection is good, but for other things it is not. I also don't like being hounded by commissioned sales people. That is my biggest issue.

Hope someone opens something in all those closed UltimateElectronics stores. Worstbuy needs competition, and competition is always a good thing to have.

I like hhgregg better than Best Buy. I never liked BB much and seems like they always gave me a hassle with returns.

the best electronics deal i found was at HHGregg online - some sort of one night only deal for the Panasonic BD65 Blu Rau player for $80 shipped - it came at the right time, too.

That's my only experience with them, and i got it because it was exactly the blu ray player I had planned to buy.

We usually call best buy "worst buy" because the deals re poor and they wont remotely price match. HHGregg people come across as friendlier, though not sure if they are more knowledgable. BB has a lot of nerdy college kids, so that is a plus, but then again they have a lot of knownothings too...

Because HHGregg has two sets of consecutive consonants compared to BB's single set.

(ok that was dumb, move on...)

I use to sell audio at Circuit City, and am quite familiar with the retail sales game. I also know that HH Gregg salesman have three prices they can offer in order to close the deal, depending if he is willing to take the commision hit.

I bought a 46" plasma at HH Gregg, because in the end it was the best local deal for what I wanted. Like others, they also have a 30 day price guarantee, which saved me another $100 and I got a free blu-ray player to boot. (A promo they ran 28 days after I bought my TV)

Before I make any nasty comment (NO, I am NOT handicapped!), please elaborate what you meant by this,.

Never been in an hhGreg store myself. Their commercials get on my nerves as well.

But it seems to me they came into being really fast after Circuit City shut down.

We've had hhGregg here for years, alongside worstbuy and rip-off CircuitCity (which closed the brick store and made a sneaky move on-line). I've walked into hhG a few times. Salespeople weren't pushy, but unlike worstbuy where they ignore me, one would eventually approach me to ask if I needed help.

I've never purchased anything at hhG, but some friends of mine who have, got excellent deals there.

The current circuitcity.com has nothing to do with Circuit City. Tiger Direct bought the name rights only when CC was liquidated.

i only shop at hhgregg for any electronics/apliances they always have the best price and will beat any competitors price in the end. just bought a canon dslr camera from there a couple weeks ago got the camera a 16gb card and a hdmi cable for about 75 less than a quote for the same setup at worst buy.

as a whole they dont have quite the inventory of best buy but they are more helpful and they dont push the top of the line products like the local best buy does. i went there a while back to look at printers and told them i was looking to spend around 100 and the guy told me id be more happy with a 300 dollar model!!! and it always seems like when ur looking at something its only on sale till the end of the same day!

their employees make comission! i have nearly stolen stuff from there compared to best buy/etc prices! but i knew a guy that worked there, few yrs back when plasma was 'cool' i bought a panasonic 46 for $800, best buy sale price was $1,100, how could i complain?
