Why some oil filters have nitrile adbv?

Some Asian made oil filters look similar, but built by different parent companies. Here's what PGI builds under other brand names at the Vietnam factory. They also have a China factory, but not sure if other brand names under PGI are built there, or the same ones.

Yes.. I posted that network of brands a long time ago.. These Prime Guards are out of China so IF Premium Guard is behind the Highline Warren connection then they would be out of the CAFI plant but they don't show the same type of brand network on their site: http://www.afifilter.com/en/p1.asp

or Highline Warren could of course be going direct with one of the China factories.

I just did some searching and can't find out who makes the Prime Guard branded filters for Highland Warren. If I had to theorize/guess, I'd probably say PGI does ... but I can't find any info to verify if that's the case or not. Or as you say, Highland Warren could have skipped the middle man (PGI) and just went direct like PGI does with these factories.

Here’s another twist I believe connects PG (VAFI) with Highline Warren. We also have the South Korea(Pentius) connection thanks to the new M1 filters.

^^^ That makes it seem like maybe Highline Warren is acting like a parent company (like PGI does for their private labels), and they are now getting a brand like Mobil under them - ???. Maybe no connection between Highline Warren and PGI, just that Highline Warren is it's own independent umbrella so to speak.

I’m leaning towards your theory that Highline went straight to VAFI.

But why would the Pentius Korean factory be making filters with random differing base plates and no Leak Tested stamp of QC ?
I’m not sure, neither are marked “leak tested” on the M1 cans. But to have Vietnam and Korean made filters under M1 umbrella they seem to be connected to me. I wonder if M1 specified a thicker can? They feel very heavy to me compared to other PG filters.

Trying to find out who makes some of the oil filters is like the FBI trying to find a suspect using Investigative Genetic Genealogy (IGG) DNA analysis.

Based on your post 23 that ties Highline Warren to Mobil 1 filters (they are responsible for the warranty), maybe Highline Warren does have multiple suppliers. Even Fram has some filter models that are made in multiple countries.

Good point! Very possible

It’s crazy how many. I just can’t get over how similar the PG and Pentius filters are. Maybe I’m trying to hard to connect them and view these new M1 filters as the smoking gun.

Yes they are similar but like I mentioned.. random switching of base plates and no leak tested on the Korean version of the new M1..

You could be right but I just think it is quite a stretch with these things listed plus the ridiculous number of Korean factories that PG has to choose from.

Highline Warrent being a decent sized distributor & having a good network it seems like they could make it easier for Mobil 1 to switch by basically having them be the party that does all the work?

Nitrile serves a purpose & generally keeps costs down. Silicone has been an evolving change for oil filters due to OEM's having longer drain intervals and nitrile just doesn't seem to cut it past a certain mileage. Of course some cars may vary but that is my overall assessment. A Microgard Select w/silicone ADBV, for example, would be my choice if going over 5k.

Leak Tested marking removal could also be at the request of Mobil.

yes I was thinking about that at first but then they are still switching around a base plate never used before.. Plus if Mobil requested that then what would they want printed there??.. Mobil type ?? .. or is this M&H type ?

^^^ That's a Purolator made Mobil 1 ... that's Purolator's date code format and font.
