Why refinish wheels when these are so cheap

That ad is misleading, suggesting a new rim, when in fact, it's refinished. I don't support that sort of monkey business.

BTW, I have those exact wheels on my Civic. Bought them from a guy with an Si that upgraded his stock wheels (which I bought)

That is a new rim. Not sure where this refurb stuff is coming up. eBay is very specific when an item is listed as new. Probably a cheap Chinese knockoff though.

Yes, same auction. You need to read the fine print...

No I don’t. This is the condition category it’s listed under. You need to learn about ebay. It’s a new wheel or it goes back, no questions asked. Do you honestly think this guy is refurbing hundreds of these wheels? He’s sold 126 and has more than 10 more.

Are you sure these advertised rims are not new? I have seen Chinese wheels at those prices.

i went the dealer and a new one was $600
Expensive. I would say the new ones are worth a shot when you can get the whole set for that price. Still, that he shows the OEM part numbers might not get you something you would consider OEM. We live in an amazing world of Chinese parts for many cars and other pieces of equipment. My lawn tractor, a Honda, would be in the junkyard without Chinese parts. All that said, there is a very real possibility of getting pure garbage. There are also some no-go areas. For example, I'd buy brushes and microfibers, but NEVER some of that cheap ceramic coating, if you smell what I'm cookin'.

Why don't you message the seller? Tell him that he has conflicting information in his ad. Personally, I would rather buy a refurbished Honda wheel than a china knockoff. You decide.

BTW, the "good" Honda wheels that look like this, the ones used on the Si's, were made by Enkei. The cheaper 2.0L "Sport" wheels, which look similar, aren't, and they are even heavier (and the Enkei's were quite heavy to begin with).

I am not looking for rims, nor did I see any conflicting information in the ad.

Fair enough, but I am not contacting the seller. If I were a potential buyer, most certainly would.

Sorry, I misinterpreted that part of your comment.

There are lots of guys on places like CivicX selling real deal Si take-offs for good prices. That's where I got mine. I'd get the proper Enkei's too, not the cheaper and heavier "Sport" wheels.

BTW, I've smacked some serious potholes with my Si wheels, destroying a Conti 06 tire. Major bummer there, but the wheel sluffed it off without denting. Lots of guys love those "forged" racing wheels, that weigh 15 lbs...but I'd hate to hit a pothole with one.

The wife & I have curb rashed plenty of aluminum rims. I simply sanded them the best I could, primed them, painted them, and clear coated them myself. They were not chipped or nothing, just scratched up from high concrete curbs. Took time and patience, but they got done. A bath of ceramic coating after all said and done. And they looked new enough for me. A lot cheaper than an OE rim or a knock off that's 1/2 the weight. Just need to use wheel spray paint, which is easily available.

Honestly I'd rather get a refurbished OE rim than a new aftermarket no name one. There were lots of Rota Slip Stream shattered due to speed bumps and pot holes. OE would be much stronger for the same price as refurb than a new cheap rim.

That refurb stuff is coming from the fact that there’s no way anybody - especially an established wheel shop - is selling a NOS OE wheel for $160.
Nobody says it’s an oe wheel. It’s a cheap Chinese knock off. Go to Discount tire and look how cheap Chinese wheels are. They literally have 40 18” wheels for less than $175 for a Honda Civic. That’s full retail pricing not eBay.
