Why not an inner tube?

When Radial tires became standard then putting tubes in tubless tires became dangerous. Radial tires are meant to flex in the sidewall and not in the belt so, the extra friction between the inner tube and radial will cause blowouts. Ed

More back in my day everthing was better. Get road hazard and dont worry about the tire. I'm all for quality repairs but putting a tube in a radial tire is stupid. The only place an inner tube belongs is floating down the Guadalupe river with a cooler of beer.

Putting a tube in a tubeless is not dangerous at all and there are tubes for this purpose.

The risk comes from steel belted radials with broken belts sticking out and even then, if the tube pops inside a leaky tire
ABSOLUTELY NOTHING happens that wouldn’t have happened with no tube.
(Ask how I know)

I actually pay attention and check my loads often and a low tire is almost immediately noticeable requiring intervention tube or not. Hence why I have jacks and a spare.

Putting tubes in old tubeless trailer rims is almost a requirement, running the tire out of air is far more dangerous than a properly inflated tube inside.

IF you have a ripped tire and put a tube in it and expect to go 115mph that is on you, but for a rusty rim, 3+ year old worthless alloy, a pinhole tubes are fine, especially on older trailers and older cars in the rear position.
