Why is Red Leather Interior All the Rage?

The interior color of my C43 was a major selling point (along with the AMG performance exhaust and the derestricted top speed). I had always wanted a car with a red interior- thinking back to 1964 when my father bought one of the first Mustangs sold in KY; it was black with a red interior.

Test drove some SUV's yesterday, BMW, Lexus, Acura, Audi all had interiors that looked like a cheap New Orleans brothel. I keep my cars longer than the average bear, I would not want that for more than a week. I am sure manufacturers' "careful" focus group studies tell them this is the thing. I see this as the next "Hunter Green" fad. As all the ones I saw were CPO's, this may indicate the previous owner grew tired as well.
I would take a red interior over an all black or grey interior in a New York second.

Maybe it's because people are tired of black, gray or tan.
This!!!! Black interiors in particular. Black seats in a car is so boring. I can't adequately express how much is dislike black interiors.

It has always been popular from the first Corvettes ever made

I'm glad to see we have so many fans of the w****house red interiors here. I'm excited to submit for your consideration this 1980 Ford Bronco, complete with an interior trashy enough (in a good way!!) to make Lady Marmalade blush.

This can be yours for only $9999.00

Doesn't run but just needs a fuel pump. No lowballers, I know what I got!!

You can just hear the cat calls and heels clicking on concrete.....

Never had a red interior, happy with my boring black. But just like I'm bored with gray monochromatic exteriors , I'm bored with gray monochromatic interiors. I'd like a little more choice, including bordello red.

I'd rather have the outside of the car doing most of the "talking", though I don't want a "hey, look at me!" color...that's why I love silver. I wouldn't mind stitching and a couple minor seat panels in red, though, but that's it.

I love the red in the Lexus where it's just the seat and door hand trim. I can't stand them bmw, audi, or Mazda where it's everywhere.

Red is good light at night though. It doesn't destroy your night vision like other colors.

Got news for you, ain't just ghetto folk who show off.

All my car life, I HATED blue and red car interiors...still do.
European cars, like VW, looked great by comparison with their grey interiors.

I gotta stroll by a lot and see these new red seat hues.
Strange, my 83 and 85 Mercedes both have blue interiors. Still look like new.

I’ve even seen green.

I like that you can set the ambient lighting in the C43 to red. Of course the Club Sport has BMW's classic red instrument lighting. Sadly, it was eliminated and replaced with nonintuitive digital displays in order to wow the rubes and wearers.
