Why is Mobil 1 so noisy?

Mobil 1 made my Civic engine sound noisy, while I'm sure it was well protected by Mobil 1, the sound (noise) was unnerving. I thought it would go away, so I left in in for 1,000 miles. The noise never went away with Mobil 1 5w30. Switched to Amsoil 0W-30, engine runs smoothly and more importantly (to me) quietly.

I'm about 1 day away from dumping my GC 3000 miles early, going and getting 4 quarts of Mobil 1 5W20 (thin should be noisy), and trying this out..

Could THIS many peeps be wrong???

PP is noisier in my car than M1

I put M1 in my car and I woke up the whole neighborhood. The cops came but I told them it was just M1. They let me off with a warning.

My ears are so fine tuned I can ususly tell what is wrong with a car before I ever pop the hood. Once in a while I need to a stethoscope or a long screwdriver but rarely. The down side is that I hear every buzz,rattle or sqeake as well. My three boys have a nasty habit of leaveing change inthe door pull area or a toy in the map pockets on the back door. It never fails I am alone in the car and I hit just the right speed on the rite batch of road to make whetever they left behind rattle and buzz. It drives me so crazy that I have to pull over and find it. I can not stand talking interior pieces!

Well after reading all these posts its settled. M1 is just a noisy oil. Now, I never said it was bad. I have never done a used oil analysis but when I take a peek inside my valvecover, it looks 'golden' and clean in there. Aside from the rattles, it served as my oil of choice from when my Civic had 30 miles all the way to now, 92,300 miles.

Anyway, the Havoline is nice and quiet and from all the positive reviews, I'll start using it regularly and we'll see if the motor can hold up to another 92K miles.

For the moment, I have a fresh case of M1 sitting on the shelf waiting....Does it go in the Tahoe this weekend???? Do I keep it and use it for my lawnmower?????? I think I'll have the answer to that after my case of Sam Adams runs dry. I'm on my last beer so I better come up with the answer quick...

Maybe it holds fewer air bubbles, so the sound doesn't get absorbed as much. This would be a good thing.

Interesting, I changed my Vibe over to Mobil 1 5w30 about 2 weeks ago at 15K miles. FWIW the engine has a quieter idle than on 5w30 conventional.

If you are going to do that, use Mobil 1 0W-20. It is at walmart for $5.92 a quart.

Thats easy to answer!

Everyone knows that Mobil 1 cleans your engine right away and all sludge and garbage left in your engine from running conventional oil has become loose and its made your engine quieter...

Once you change your oil, it will be louder.

Ok, for the new people reading this. The above statement is untrue. But reading some posts here you would have this thought process.

My Toyota which has the same engine was quite a bit louder running Mobil 1 5w30 and that was at 18k miles on the engine.

What conventional oil (brand and weight) were you using?

I would, but I can't find it ANYWHERE. I'm awaiting the retail release of Pennzoil Platinum 0w20 for hybrids.
