I think typically Costco or another station with a points scheme is a bit cheaper, but if prices are going up fast this one is cheaper. All you need to do is swipe your credit card to get a PIN, and then you can pump gas there whenever.I didn’t think we were allowed to go to one of those stations unless we were driving a big rig. There are a bunch of them in my travels
I mostly buy at Costco though and when I got gas there on Sunday they were 15 cents cheaper than the stations nearby
What's the difference? The end result is the same. Consumers are taking it up the backside, while big oil gets richer...Big oil does not set the price. Commodities traders do on the margin.
Your local gas station is marking gasoline up much more than there costs have risen - as usual.
Your blaming the wrong entity- see my post #416.
I am boycotting all oil 🛢![]()
OK. I blame you then. What's the difference? The end result is the same. Consumers are taking it up the backside, while big oil gets richer...
We are all tied to the high prices because the masses complain yet still reward the big corps with their money. People get paid to figure out how much the average consumer is willing to tolerate.Im not - just look at my sig line.
But Im also not going to live the rest of my life tied to it exclusively, then post in wonder as prices move all over the place.

I feel for those who are living week to week. The consumables price increases hurt...
At this point in my life, my efforts are going towards breaking the chain of financial struggling for some of the people in my life. It's incredibly expensive being poor.
Yep, been doing that for many years - never been hard to find folks in need if you live well within your own means …At this point in my life, my efforts are going towards breaking the chain of financial struggling for some of the people in my life.
California is a funny place; cost of living vs education opportunity. The local Community Colleges and Universities can be life changers.
We have more than enough oil for ourselves. Even with our current refining, at minimum we have plenty in the Western Hemisphere.Im not - just look at my sig line.

Current oil prices were 100% caused, not market driven. Of course some will continue to chant the navy for oil mantra when its opposite.
In the meantime, a shadow tanker that carries typically Iranian LNG just traversed the Strait. Furthers my point.

You don't control electricity prices unless you produce your own. Few are in position to do that also. Even those that think they do are connected to the grid, and many places require you to be connected to the grid, so your still beholden. Only true solution is completely off grid. Then of course your still beholden to property taxes which they can make whatever they like.It simply doesn't matter that we have more than enough oil and refining for ourselves because even though that is true - we don't (and never will) singularly be in control of the price.
The only way for me to be in control of my own quality of life is to be in a position where I can choose oil - not be bound by it.

Your bound by the governments decisions either way. I appreciate your thought process, I just think your fooling yourself.
ROI on solar depends on location. Here it was never great, and since I knew I would not be staying forever the ROI on selling one is likely even worse. Until such time as the tech priced for storage / completely off grid is better I think it stays that way.I do. About 12.8 MWh a year. Electricity "tends" to be more stable than oil from a price perspective.
Anyone with the desire can lessen their dependency on it dramatically - but most never will because it's cheaper in the short run to give control over to others. Back to being poor is expensive......
Electricity is one of the few forms of energy we can both truly control and make a nearly limitless amount of, but we've chosen a different direction to continue to let our quality of life be governed by others.
I'm still beholden to it for certain things, but Ive begun and will continue to lessen my own dependence on it, and outside entities in general.
Solar panels are so good and cheap now, I’m not sure the costs really get in the way anymore.ROI on solar depends on location. If it works for you thats great, honestly. I just don't think it works for the majority. As far as that goes, I trust XOM more than I do Dominion and there government lackies, so I stick with gasoline. Prices will never stay high. The cure for high prices is high prices. Vs electricity where there is zero competition - they tell you what to pay, and you pay - there profit is guaranteed.
