Why haven't gas prices gone down?

I'm happy at $2.95 this morning for Sunoco...many stations are still at $3.19 for 87 octane
So was this the normal weekend jump? It happens here every weekend. Thursday was 2.79. Friday through late Sunday 2.99. Late sunday to monday morning - $2.78 now.

Pretty much all stations in unison.

Normal here. I presume there torqueing the tourists along with those that live check to check and fill the tank when they get paid.

No it's just that the less busy stations as you would expect hold the higher costs longer....it's a mix.

Here Buc-ee's is $2.53, while almost all other stations are from $2.90-$3.20. Buc-ee's has a different business model and is able to sell gas for little margin because they get thousands of visitor to come into the store every day and open their wallets to buy high margin Buc-ee's dolls and food.

I am certain there not loosing money on gas. So that tells you how much more everyone else is marking up.

Last weekend gas was $2.98 pretty much everywhere. Normal weekend games.

By wednesday a small Exxon station I use often was down to $2.62 - so I filled up - was only half tank but OK. I am usually gone in middle of the week but was around this week.

Today same Exxon is $2.86.

My guess is there $2.95 or more again by Tomorrow night.

Same weekend games.

Ours went down quite a bit in Minnesota. My area of the state was a slower reduction than others, but it's under 3 dollars.

I just got back from a 2400 mile road trip Traveled Montana, Idaho, Washington, Oregon and California.....Montana gas was in the low $3 a gallon, Idaho slightly higher around mid $3's...Washington high $4's to low $5's, Oregon higher 4's and California up to $5.15 gallon but usually right around $5. a month earlier I did a bit longer road trip Montana, the Dakotas, Wyoming and Minn....gas was cheaper in the Dakotas and Wyoming and the crazy thing in Minnesota I got the worst mpg which was crazy because speed limits were lower and it was flat.....Gas here has been dropping fairly consistently Cosco is $2.99 and most others $3.09

I just read today the Ukraine's efforts to fend of the Russian invasion have become quite effective. There favorite target lately has been the refineries and crude/natural gas production facilities. Some new weapons are also being made available to them recently.
The end result is that a lot of crude and refined products are being removed from the market.

Despite OPEC's recent increase in oil production, the world's supply of crude is decreasing, hence you will likely see gasoline prices increase very soon.
