Why do so many people want to run 0 weight oils?

Well no the AFE being a 0W classification oil will probably have a better base oil PAO if that matters to someone.

0wxx oils have held up to everything i have thrown at it

Daman,

My Fords call for 5-20 and I just switched to that from 5-30 recently. Johnny was using M1 0-20 in his Hondas last winter and liked it a lot. Do you think the 0-20 is as POA influenced as the O-30 you use? The 5-20EP is really a great oil in these Duratechs, so I might consider M1 0-20 next winter.

tig i would say yes(no proof),i dont think you can get a 0w20/30 synthetic from grpIII.

AFE IMO is one of Mobils better PCMO,i would try the 0w20 tig.

Of all the 0W-30's discussed on this board--primarily Mobil 1, AMSOIL SSO, and GC SYNTEC 0W-30--all seem to have a strong following and have performed well in UOA's as much as one can tell. I think the real question is "why not run a 0W-30?" On the two occasions I've run an OCI of 0W-30, I've been at least as happy as any other oil with GC reducing consumption on during a run of long distance, hot weather driving and returning stellar fuel economy numbers...

I agree...

Like i said i've thrown everything at a 0w30,hot heavy towing/hauling to Sunday driving to cold Michigan winters and no issues oil held up performed fine,i think the thick vs this debate will never die.
