Why do people hate cats?

Aside from that, as someone who has raised and trained certified therapy dogs for many years, cats simply don't compare to a well trained dog-dogs are in an entirely different league when it comes to return on investment. And yes, I've seen the folks that try to pass their cats off as "therapy" cats-there is simply no comparison to what a dog can do.

Cats=much lower maintenance.

I dont need to walk them twice a day to go poop and or pee.

Tatiana the Wonder Siberian would do that. In fact she would sit at my feet and stare up at me as a hint. "C'mon, man, throw the ball for me!" And Arizona and I had a similar game on the stairs in a townhouse we once lived in. My current two will do it, but not every time.

They're not doing it to please us, of course. They're bringing the ball back so we'll continue the game.

Cats don't pee on cars or bushes or anything. Dogs and some wild animals do. Cats bury their dodo. Indore litter boxes must be cleaned every day to minimize smell.

Our male cat fetched for a few years...he would bring one of his chew strings up from the basement, I'd ball it up and throw it back down, and we might repeat for a couple of hours. He seemed to lose his touch at some point and started only bring it back up a few steps before dropping it...maybe he got kicked in the head accidentally at some point?

Our cats did alert me to a serious mouse infestation, our little female is an accomplished mouser and suddenly started catching at least a mouse a day. Unfortunately, when she ate them it would make her throw up. You want to see a beautiful sight, check out a mouse that has been eaten and then thrown up before being digested...
Anyway, I figured out that the mice had chewed a hole in one of garage door seals to get to some bird food and then had discovered they had access to the guts of the house through scurrying up the garage door rails and into the ceiling through some holes for supports that the builder never bothered to close up. I confirmed my suspicions by tiptoeing through the basement with no lights and then simultaneously throwing the door into the garage open and turning on the light...there must have been a couple of dozen mice on those rails. I had leather work gloves on and did things to the mice that I could catch that I should probably be ashamed of, although I was quick about it and they suffered for a few seconds if at all from my businesslike attacks.
I sealed up the holes, surely trapping some mice inside but I didn't care as I figured they would die quickly and their little bodies wouldn't smell too bad. Repeated the surprise attack for several nights and caught more mice trying to figure out how to get in, those gloves got so covered in gore that I had to thrown them away. Finally got a new seal for the garage door and the invasion ended, and I'm sure I wouldn't have known about it for much longer if not for the cats.

If you get an ammonia smell, you've waited too long...which also makes it more likely the cats will be grossed out and go outside the box.

Look it up ...the great plagues of Europe were caused by rodents. The cats were all killed because the plague victims beleived they were evil. God put them here to TCB - Take Care of Business.

I had a cat I got as a kitten I played with him daily with a stuffed mouse on a fishing rod. I flipped it across the house and reeled him in. Eventually I had him fetching and retrieving paper balls and he would go on top of the fridge and beg me to come over so he could climb on my shoulders and ride as I went out to get the mail. He knew what i was saying to him just like a dog and was a good Friend that is now gone from old age. All the training/bonding/trust needs to happen when they're kittens cause they don't change easily after that.

I house trained my last cat as if it were a dog. It was a male and I never had problems with him urinating or marking his territory in the house.

I don't hate cats in general, I just hate living with cats.

I do have a very slight cat hair allergy, so I lose the ability to breathe through my nose if I lie down on a surface (bed, couch) that a cat has been on.
I also really hate the smell of cat pee and I refuse to live with that every day.
I find that about 25% of cats hate my guts - That's fine, I hate those cats back. The rest I like OK as long as they remain other people's cats.

Chris, you live in Apple Valley, where driving a lifted truck and owning a pitbull are ways to show how cool you are. Also these same people wouldn't want to own a pet that's smarter than them and has more teeth than their entire family combined.

I don't hate cats, but my border collie and yellow lab sure hate them. I've seen what the two of them can do to racoons when they tag-team up on them and I don't think a cat would last as long as a racoon.

I have a feral cat problem with them pooping in my yard. That being said I try to deter them not to harm them. The problem is that they were neighbors pets but they have since vanished and left their animals behind.

I have another issue with two puppies that are going to the animal shelter tomorrow. Both were in my front yard last Monday. One is an Irish Terrier that is less than 3 months old. She is a sweetheart and the other appears to be an Austrian Cattle Dog/German Shepard mix and to be about 6 to 9 months old. He is aggressive with my mutt that his half his size but has learned even if he hurts him my mutt will not stop and he has accepted that is below on the totem pole. He very submissive to me and my sons. Also he is very intelligent and has learned to sit on command in less then a week. Both were dehydrated and pretty famished when they showed up. I have waited for a week for their dirtbag owner to show up I can not wait any longer.

Seems like every body hates cats. They want to shoot them or kill them somehow.

One guy said him and his son would "Take them out" for me. Seems like nobody wants a nice kittie and I don't understand why not.

But if they were puppies they would already be gone to happy homes.

In a word: psychopathy. Every serial killer started on animals.

Cats are fairly independent and you can't really put them on a leash or throw one in the front seat of your truck when you run to the store.

We had a feral growing up and she would eat squirrels, mice, bunnies on the back patio while my parents were out there entertaining.

For those that have cats with a stinky litter box try feeding them raw and/or grain-free food.

You can train them to use a toilet .

We have 2 Maine Coons (lost our 3rd a few months ago at age 16).

Done that many times with Maya! If you want weird looks, walk a 28lb cat on a leash.

You have some interesting acquaintances there....definitely not cat-people.

I've adopted stray cats before, took them to the vet, gotten them dewormed, fixed and took good care of them. Mine were quite friendly to neighbors, friends and strangers. One was I/O the last, just I.

To me, the attitude of a cat or dog, tells me A LOT about the owner & their environment. Sure some animals are just nuts, but then again, so are some people....

I would think kittens would be the easiest to adopt! Because they're....well...kittens. The cute factor plays well in their hand. Plus they're much easier to care for than a puppy.

I could set my cats on "auto-cat" for several days & they were fine. Can't do that with a dog. Shouldn't do that with a dog either.....

I do like dogs + other animals as well. People on the other hand.......
